    One of the earliest ethics officers in the industry, Carrie Penman is the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer for NAVEX Global. She has been with the company since 2003 after serving four years as deputy director of the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association (ECOA) now ECI. A scientist by training, she developed and directed the first corporate-wide global ethics program at Westinghouse Electric Corporation from 1994-1999. Carrie was awarded the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Compliance 2020 by Compliance Week magazine.

    Jan Stappers is Regulatory Solutions Director at NAVEX. As an expert in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), he is a frequent speaker on subjects related to GRC regulation and best practices, as well as a sought-after author on regulatory developments within GRC, ESG, CSR, whistleblowing, and third-party risk. 

    Stappers is a member of the European AI Alliance and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) “Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies.” This working party is broken into six parts and Jan is a member of the Group of Experts on Risk Management in Regulatory Systems. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

    He holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) from King’s College London (EU Competition Law) and a master’s degree (LL.M) from Leiden University (European Law).
