    As one of the earliest ethics officers in the industry, Carrie Penman has been with NAVEX since 2003 after serving four years as deputy director of the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association (ECOA) now ECI. A scientist by training, she developed and directed the first corporate-wide global ethics program at Westinghouse Electric Corporation from 1994-1999. 

     As chief risk and compliance officer for NAVEX, Carrie leads the company’s formal risk management processes. She also oversees its internal ethics and compliance activities employing many of the best practices that NAVEX recommends to its customers. 

    Carrie has extensive client-facing risk and compliance consulting experience, including more than 15 years as an advisor to boards and executive teams; most recently as NAVEX’s senior vice president of Advisory Services. She has also served as a corporate monitor and independent consultant for companies with government settlement agreements. 

    Carrie was awarded the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Compliance 2020 by Compliance Week magazine. In 2017, Carrie received the ECI’s Carol R. Marshall Award for Innovation in Corporate Ethics for an extensive career contributing to the advancement of the ethics and compliance field worldwide.

    Jane Norberg is a Partner at Arnold & Porter in the Securities Enforcement Defense and Whistleblower Risk Defense Practices.  Jane brings to her practice extensive government experience as the former chief of the Office of the Whistleblower and a senior officer in the Division of Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to help clients navigate compliance and regulatory investigations.  

    Jane represents clients in internal investigations; government subpoenas, inquiries and investigations; response to and defense of whistleblower allegations; whistleblower retaliation claims defense; SEC impeding reporting defense; and provides crisis management counseling to mitigate reputational risk.  She also counsels clients on proactive assessment and structuring of internal whistleblower and compliance mechanisms, policies, and procedures, and provides training to boards of directors, management and workforces on internal reporting structures and retaliation issues. Jane also conducts sexual harassment and other sensitive investigations, and educates boards of directors and executives about emerging whistleblower programs such as the Anti-Money Laundering Act whistleblower program and NHTSA automotive whistleblower program.

    Keith is lead counsel for FedEx Corporation in the Corporate Integrity & Compliance Group.  He is responsible for the oversight and management of the FedEx Alert Line process and case management system for all FedEx operating companies and international regions, as well as the internal investigations process for the enterprise. Keith is also leading the compliance group’s journey into the realm of data analytics and machine learning.  Keith has been with FedEx since 2007, working in a variety of roles in Legal and Compliance.  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and his law degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1997.
